This post is an advertisement feature with Boots UK but all thoughts are my own.
Not only is this year our first festive season living together, we’ve only bloody decided to host Christmas in our own little flat!
That’s right. Come December 25th, we’ll have four extra guests to cook up a storm for and that brings a whole new wave of emotions.
One part of me is excited to batch cook a load of Yorkshire puddings and decorate our place whilst the other half is petrified of our little kitchen being able to handle it all.
I mean, cooking for people is nothing new to us. We’ve rustled up curries, pastas and roasts for guests before, but there’s something about Christmas dinner that just seems a little daunting.
I guess, it’s because everything is just so extra at Christmas
& there’s also a load of extra things I need to do!
& would you be surprised to hear that I’ve ALREADY started my Christmas shopping and wrapping? Yup, this gal don’t play about.
When it comes to cooking in our place, Josh is the chef. Like, 80% of the time. He still can’t deny my meatballs.
But when it comes to roasts we’ve cooked in the past, we’ve made a pretty good team. With Josh taking care of the meat, gravy and mash and me making sure Yorkshire’s, roasties and the veg are on point.
But with Christmas dinner there’s so much more to think about. We’re really gonna have to plan out timings of everything!
You can’t forget about pigs in blankets, or stuffing balls. I need to remember to pick up the usual sauce suspects and good lord we’ve decided to do TWO meats on the lunch.
What’s your favourite part of a Christmas dinner? It’s a bit weird, but I love turnip so much and I’m not even bothered if it’s not traditionally supposed to be on there. I’m doing Christmas my way gals.
But Boots found that a glorious 69% feel like roast potatoes are the most essential part of a Christmas dinner. If you ain’t got them on there, what are you playing at?! It’s potato-golden-roasted GOODNESS.
If you started your Christmas shopping last month or even before that, then I salute you. I like to think I’m organised but hell if I think I am.
BUT. Every year I do like to set myself the task of buying and wrapping 90% of my gifts in November. Cos it just seems to make December just that little less more stressful.
I’ve already bought the wrapping paper and I’m well organised with a little spreadsheet to keep track of who I still need to buy for.
So yup, over the next few weeks expect Amazon parcels galore and brown wrapping paper and sellotape coming outta my eyeballs.
Are you a last minute type of person? Or are you already on the ball with those gifts?
I love shopping for presents for other people but ladies agree with me here, why are MEN so hard to buy for?! Boots also discovers that 38% of us put the most thought into our partners gifts, but it still seems so hard!
Especially in a world where what we want, we tend to just buy for ourselves.
At least the guys at Boots make it a little bit easier with their gifting sections online. Having Christmas Gifts for Her and Christmas Gifts for Him all in one place really does help make things that little bit easier!
Speaking of Boots and gifts, they’ve only give me the chance to share a giveaway with you all. Who wants to win a Soap & Glory advent calendar? An extra one to have alongside those morning chocolate goodies.
(It’s totally ok to have three of those though, right?)
You can enter just below.
Anyway, I best get off. I actually have my first set of wrapping planned for this afternoon. HOW ON THE BALL AM I?!
