When my friend Gianni @ The G Edit announced that he was hosting an event at The Body Shop in Newcastle, I couldn’t have been prouder.
The Body Shop x TGE Event was a fantastic chance for me to rekindle my Northern Blogger Event spirit as I haven’t been to many at all this year. Events really do bring your spark back and I’m totally taking it back old school with this one.
Gianni has been a huge lover of the brand for years, so I was so happy that he had a chance to collaborate with them like this. After a hungover drive up (we’d been out celebrating his birthday the night before in Leeds) we arrived at the venue in all it’s bright and beautiful glory.
Gianni’s smile (along with Manager Kate’s!) was from ear to ear. We were told to expect makeovers, facials, hand massages and a whopping 30% off the entire store. An opportunity not to be missed for sure.
They also had an area to sign the petition against Animal Testing and a space to get your own personalised Body Butter. With the official Body Shop snapchat account, the Body Shop x TGE team were ready to go!
The Animal Testing petition signing station was the first place I went off to as it’s a super important thing. When looking at the map on the page of countries that actually do ban Animal Testing compared to those that don’t – it’s crazy. So go sign it.
I wasn’t up for taking my current makeup off (hungover mess) or getting it spruced up, all I knew is that I wanted a good ol’ hand massage. Using the Spa of the World range, the lovely assistant scrubbed, moisturised and oiled my hand up so much so that I wanted to fall asleep.
With the 30% off storewide, I couldn’t have not picked up some of the fantastic things The Body Shop currently have on offer. Despite picking up a lip liner, hand sanitiser and some tweezers (not so glam), I picked up some fabulous bits for my skin.
We were given a Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel (£18) demonstration and HOLY BALLS, the results were insane. The non-scrub exfoliating brings your dead skin to the surface for you to wipe away, you literally see the skin curl and fall off, it’s disgustingly incredible.
I had to pick up two favourites from the Vitamin E range. The wonderful Hydrating Face Mist (£10) which I always keep in my bag for when I get a little bit sweaty during the day (TMI? IDK) and the Aqua Boost Sorbet (£14) which is fantastic for hydrating sensitive skin. I die.
In one of their little baskets, I grabbed some of their Home Fragrance Oils (£4) for my Aromatherapy Diffuser. If you get stressed often (HELLO ME) a contraption like this is amazing for filling your room with calming scents.
Speaking of stress, (ha), I asked Kate for a recommendation on something to calm my mind and she told me that she uses the Thai Lemongrass Massage Oil (£15) on an evening on her pressure points to help her sleep.
UPDATE: I’m sleeping like a baby.
Well done to Kate and her team and a huge congratulations to my blogger bae Gianni for hosting, The Body Shop x TGE Event was a hit! I haven’t updated my Body Shop collection in some time, so I’m excited to try some of their pieces.
So, when’s the last time you visited The Body Shop?
