New Year Skincare is important. The festive season (aka chocolate & booze) turns my skin into a bit of a disaster. Here are 4 products to help it recover…
The Spot Recovery
Is it just me, or has anyone else had one-too-many a Malteaser from those dang Celebration tubs? Is there such a thing as too many?
Anyway, the amount of sugary and beige food I’ve had over the past few weeks has meant one thing; spot city. I’m popping pimples all over my chin thanks to all the chocolate-y goodness that has passed my lips.
Thank the heavens that I picked up a Pixi Glow Tonic on my recent trip to London. Oh, how my skin has missed this little bottle of magic. It’s a super gentle exfoliating toner with lots of fantastic ingredients to help regenerate the skin like witch hazel and aloe vera.
Although it’s not a targeted spot treatment, the Glycolic acid helps to exfoliate dead skin cells to give an overall better look and feel to the skin.
No stinging with this toner, just bright, beautiful skin with continued use. I also reviewed it previously here.
The Eye-bag Recovery
All this partying (hahah who am I kidding?), has meant that late nights have occurred. Granted I’ve been sleeping in ’til late but I’m still super snoozy.
Could it also be that I’ll be reaching the grand old age of 25 this year and can’t hack a late night anymore? Maybe so.
Anyway, to make my eyes feel a little less tired, or at least look like I’ve had 8 hours of kip a night, I’ve been using the Elemis Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks. These little sticky gel packs are perfect for the ultimate pamper night.
They gently plump up those under eyes with Hyaluronic acid to hydrate and aims to reduce the appearance of any fine lines.
The Dullness Recovery
I don’t know about you, but my skin feels super lack-luster after the festive period. I tend to drink above average around Christmas and New Year with so many social events going on and my skin is never the same the morning after.
It’s always dull, dreary and a teeny weeny bit grey. Not enough red wine to rosy the cheeks by the sounds of it.
But using the Pixi Glowtion Day Dew on a morning brings some level of life back. It’s a super duper super light moisturiser that melts into the skin giving it an incredible radiant look. Lavender oil works to calm the skin whilst mica brightens.
I love this. It makes me feel like some glowing mythical creature.
The Full Recovery
If you’re a gal on the go and in need of a super quick fix, masks are the way to go. The Formula 10.0.6 Be Berry Peel Mask is one to bring energy back to your skin.
The thin, sweet-smelling liquid applies semi-clear to the face and begins to dry, almost like a clay mask but not as harsh. It’s more of a tightness.
Then you await 10-15 minutes for the mask to do its magic and then peel, peel, peel away and BOY is it satisfying. Like when you’d put PVA glue on your hand as a kid and peel it off, just me?
You’re left with supple, smooth and brighter skin. The mask is rich in antioxidants so it’ll give you back all those good bits you’re skin can lack after a busy time.
